Stuff and more stuff....

2006-04-27
Man you need a lot of stuff for this labour lark! No idea what is in the boxes yet......

Yesterday was a bit of a shock to the system for me - having to get up at 6.30am to go and see the midwives at 8.30am before JB went to work - was well um..tiring!

It was good to get to meet a few more of the midwives who may be on call when I go into labour. So far I'd really only met two of them and it can be any two from a pool of ten. So now we've seen the faces of six of them and they all seemed very nice, chirpy and smiley and friendly! So that was a big relief. We handed over a copy of our 'Birth Plan' so they will all get a copy and know what kind of birth we are hoping for.

They said we should be expecting a call from the Health Service as the big boxes of stuff had left their offices and were somewhere in Edinburgh on route to being delivered to us.

When I got home I had a message to say that the big boxes of stuff were going to be delivered between 11 and 12. Just leaving me enough time to head down to Stockbridge to meet Kirsten for our floating session :-) but more about that later.

The Health Service guy arrived about 11.30 with the big boxes of stuff and two cannisters of gas (Oxygen for the baby & Entonox for moi). The gases have to be stored away from light & heat for obvious reasons - kind of scary though having such medical looking things in one's flat......

Oh and the bucket on top of the boxes - just in case anyone is curious - it's the placenta bucket!!!!

And before you ask - no neither me or JB are planning on copying Tom's trick with that one!
