Babymoon
So he's been with us for two weeks.
What a hectic two weeks it has been. First a trip to the neonatal unit for three days as Josh wasn't feeding very well and had lost rather a lot of weight and was a wee bit jaundiced too, then once home he developed a nasty rash :-(
He is doing much better now though - he's putting on weight steadily and the rash and the jaundice have disappeared - phew! I can breath again.......
So with a wee bit of a bumpy start things seem to be getting back on track. It must obviously be pay back for the wonderful birth he had!!
I hope to have time to blog about the birth properly at some point but in the mean time I think it is enough to say that it was everything we could have hoped for.
We managed to stay at home, we only used massage, homeopathy and the pool for pain relief and Joshua made a very speedy entrance into this world shooting out into the water and shocking his parents greatly that such a perfect little person could have been produced by the two of us :-)
I have to say though that I don't think there is any way I could have got through the birth without Jonathan's support & encouragement. He was absolutely wonderful and helped me breath through the contractions & massaged my back during the worst ones.
At the risk of embarrassing you JB - you were Brilliant - Thanks hon!!
We managed to get out as a family for the first time on Tuesday - yes it was after 5pm and I had only just got dressed - but we managed it! We loaded Josh into his buggy and with a large amount of trepidation on his parents part set off for a walk into Stockbridge. We managed to have a coffee in Cafe Nero and then do a spot of grocery shopping, all without the wee man waking up once!
Success !!
I wasn't prepared for how insanely scary it is taking such a small boy out in the buggy - I was convinced that every lump and bump in the road would wake him up. I think we must have had that terrified 'new parent' look about us. I'm sure in time we will aquire the necessary laid back nonchalance of other buggy pushers - it doesn't however come naturally.
We are going to Register Josh's birth tomorrow - so another trip out - I'd better start packing the changing bag now as I don't know when I might get the chance again............
He's sleeping soundly in the little travel cot beside me while I type this - arms up on either side of his head - not a care in the world.
Yes Josh you are absolutely gorgeous and I can't believe you are really ours - I only hope we manage to make you as happy as you have made us!
