A darn good day....and with cake!
Today was a big day for Joshua and I - a trip to see my work colleagues was planned and I was rather apprehensive because:
A) We had to be there for 10.30 a.m. B) We both had to be washed and dressed before the afternoon..... C) Josh had to be fed first so that he might sleep on route D) We had to negotiate how to get up to Morningside via public transport preferably without leaving the flat at silly o'clock!
So all this was making me a tad stressed.
However it all went rather swimingly! The taxi arrived on time, Josh slept the whole way there and for the entire duration of the visit and all the way home!!!
After much cooing and clucking over Josh we walked back home - which seemed a much shorter walk with the buggy than without! Perhaps it's the good company ;-)
Once Josh was fed and changed we headed out again, this time with the hubby to grab some food in Stockbridge. We had a lovely lunch in Cafe Nero while the boy slept (!) peacefully in the pram. This is where the cake came in.......man the chocolate fudge cake in Nero is yummy.....very squidgy and gooey and guilt free while breastfeeding!!! I knew there must be a silver lining to the whole (rather painful) process ;-)
After the lunch and the cake - JB headed off to a meeting and Josh and I made for the shops. We grabbed some groceries and walked back home along the Water of Leith passing a mother duck with three little ducklings in tow. How she keeps track of those three tiny little swimmers I don't know! I'm glad I only have one - and he isn't likely to be swept downstream - yet......
Back home and after a feed I made lasagne for dinner. Which isn't as impressive as it sounds after such a busy day - it was pretty much out of a jar - one jar of 'red sauce' and one jar of 'white sauce'. Whatever it is that they put in these things it's probably best not to know, but it was pretty tasty.
Today I'm feeling a bit more like I might be getting this motherhood thing more sussed. It wasn't nearly as scary taking Josh out in the pram as it was the first time and we certainly managed to make it out the door before 5pm!!!
So it's been a good day - lets just hope that Josh carries on with his current penchant for sleeping and lets us get a few hours rest tonight.
Fingers crossed!
