Spiders ......in all shapes and sizes

2006-08-24
Josh in his 'spider' t-shirt showing off his big blue eyes!

So last night (or rather early this morning) I'm sitting up in bed feeding Josh as usual. Feeling slightly groggy and bleary eyed I spy something scuttle out from under the cot and run towards the wardrobe. EEEK! A mouse perhaps.........A large beetle.........hopefully a figment of my imagination. I'm so tired I'm convinced I must be seeing things......

But no it's a HUGE and ENORMOUS spider!!!

Reflexes kick in lest the thing disappears off and we loose it under the bed to horror of horrors crawl over us later. So I slap JB hard accross the chest (sorry hon but needs must) and make wild hand gestures concerning the enormity of this creature. Luckily he jumps up and sees it - followed by a cry of "What the $&!!!" and runs for a glass to capture the beast under.

After debating what to do with it we decide that rather than chuck it out of the front door (which is our usual method for dealing with unwanted house guests of a creepy crawly nature) we or more acurately JB - would flush it down the loo. I couldn't bear to think of it even in the same building - so without caring about the karmic reprecussions - JB dispensed with it. What would I do without you JB!?

There was no way I was going near that thing - I'm fine with small normal sized spiders - you know the ones that are smaller than a five pence but this chap was in a whole other league. He must have been the diameter of a coffee mug - I mean he only just fitted under a large glass...........

After all this talk of creepy crawlies something cute and cuddly is in order. Josh to the rescue!

Here he is in a rather appropriate little t-shirt - it has a smiling spider on it weaving it's web across the front - much nicer than last night's intruder! :-)
