Half a year.....already?!

little cheeky chap with his ted ready to go out adventuring!

Happy Half Birthday Josh!

So you're half way to your first birthday Josh and it feels like the shortest time since I first scooped you up in my arms, in awe of the little quivering pink person who had landed at the bottom of the birth pool - so perfect, so tiny and so terrifyingly real!

You are very much your own person - my little 'cheeky chap'! It seems an apt title for you just now. You are just finding out that dropping your toys is great fun as we 'minions' retrieve them for you again, and again and again. You have such a lovely grin which spreads right across your little apple cheeks - I now know why the persian family who stayed with us when I was little used to delight in pinching my cheeks with such glee! They are irresistable and I can't stop kissing them. I can just imagine you saying "oh Mum stop it" in the tone of Kevin the teenager - or maybe I'm just projecting? You've also found that you can stand (with some support of course) and you look so darn proud of yourself. If you could talk I'm sure you'd say "check *me* out!".

This month is a busy one. At the end of it we are moving flat again! This time back to Morningside, closer to friends and closer to work when the time comes. I think it's going to be a good move. We really didn't want to go through such a big upheaval again so soon but the damp in the flat is just too severe to risk staying here with you Josh. In the new flat you will have your own bedroom and I'm really looking forward to making it nice for you. Okay who am I kidding it's for me really isn't it? All the cute stuff is more for the parents than the kids until much later on. Anyway that's one of the big pluses about the new place that and the fact that we are going to be just round the corner from 'Auntie' Kirsten. I sense lots of coffees, lunches, Josh cuddles and chats coming on :-)

You've just started weaning and so far you have tasted baby rice, sweet potato, butternut squash, apple and carrot. Apple is definitely the favourite so far. You still seem a bit confused by the whole thing and are more interested in grabbing the bowl and spoon than tasting what is in them. Oh well I'm sure you'll get the hang of it soon. Pear is next on the list. I wonder what you'll make of it?.......
