Trains, planes and automobiles

A little inquisitive chap

Josh took his first trip on a train on Sunday.

We decided to take the plunge and rather than hire a car from city car club as we had done previously we thought we would brave the train. Save JB from driving and the hell that is parking in a big city. Good plan right?

I had all kinds of horrible scenarios running through my head of how it would turn out. Namely small screaming child turns into monster on long train journey with no means of escape leading to evil glares and deathly glances from unforgiving general public swiftly followed by a Mummy melt down and general panic.......

So we ventured out early. Really early for a Sunday. We were all washed, dressed and breakfasted and out of the house ready to roll by 9am! Be impressed. I was!

Josh fell asleep in the buggy and woke up when we were already on the train. He was a wee bit nonplussed at first but quickly perked up and loved slapping his hands on the table and standing on the seat next to window to look out at all the interesting things going past. He seemed to enjoy the trip and none of the things I had dreaded came to pass. Success!

We had a lovely lunch with JB's Dad in Princes Square and watched all the other babies and toddlers running around the central area at the bottom of the mall. It has a circular mosaic on the floor and the little ones love crawling or running around on it. Josh loved watching and made friends with a little girl of about two who came over to give him a cuddle!

Now that we've taken him on a train the prospect of taking him places seems a bit less daunting and travelling with Josh seems all the more doable. We are hoping to take him to France with us towards the end of the year. I hope Josh liked flying as much as I do. And I love it.

Look out planes here we come!
