Spring!
Sorry for such a long blog break. It wasn't supposed to be like that. Not sure what got in the way - life I guess!
The weather has changed - yay! Spring has arrived and blown away the cobwebs and winter chill. The last couple of days have been gorgeous. Balmy and warm with glorious sunshine and blue skies. It's just the kind of weather I love. Not too hot and with a soft breeze so I don't feel the need to brave the outdoors in skimpy summer clothing and can safely keep my jacket on without feeling overdressed! I'm not a huge fan of high summer....
Yellow seems to be everywhere. There are loads of daffodils out just now especially in the Meadows. Josh and I took a lovely stroll along there today on our way to 'Clambers' at the Commonwealth Pool. In keeping with this yellow theme. I dressed Josh in his best lion dungarees and yellow stripey top for my Mum's Birthday yesterday. I wore pale green for a change. It seemed wrong to be wearing black on such a gorgeous day. I'd been busy baking the night before and we had carrot cupcakes with cream cheese icing. NOT on my diet....ho hum. Josh enjoyed the uniced version by trying to stuff the whole cake into his mouth then making piles of crumbs out of the remainder :-) He likes to make a mess that boy. We tried strawberries the other day. Folly. It looked like a small animal had been masacred (eeeewwww) and it took three goes with a damp cloth to get the pink tinge off Josh.
Anyway back to Mum's birthday. Mum and Pooh arrived to find an excited Josh all clean (for a change) and waiting for the fun to begin. We had a lovely lunch and presents and cards then after a wee rest and some cake, a trip out to the park opposite our flat. We just carried the boy over and let him have a go on the swings. He wasn't too sure at first but seemed quite happy watching everything going on around him. Lots to look at - big kids, small kids, Mums and Dads, slides, roundabouts, climbing frames. It's all interesting to such an inquisitive little boy.
Today was great fun too. Josh and I headed out fairly early (for us anyway!) at 11ish and did a spot of charity shopping. I bagged a bargain GAP denim jacket for £4.99. Very chuffed as I needed a new lighter jacket for Spring :-) We then walked down to Bruntsfield Links and had our lunch in the sunshine on a bench. Josh watched some boys playing football while I enjoyed a naughty 'Duck Wrap' from M&S as a treat. Then we walked through the Meadows to Clambers. Josh loves it there. It's a kind of activity place with special soft play area for babies and toddlers. It's so good to be able to let him crawl about and explore without worrying about sharp corners and nasty edges. He met a little girl called Emily and they played in the ball pit for a while together. He loved exploring and it was great to see him having such fun. We walked back to Morningside through the Grange noseying at all the gorgeous grand houses and gardens. We rounded off the day by meeting up with Kirsten for a frappe latte (the first of the year) and a chat in Cafe Nero.
Spring is definitely in the air and it feels almost like a new start somehow. Looming large is my return to work and all that will entail. I'm trying to think positively about it and am focusing on the nice things coming up like Josh's first Birthday (I know - already!!) and Eurovision Caravan Weekend.
May is going to be great!
