Happy bunny
Last Saturday was a great day. JB was working which couldn't be helped so the two of us set off to amuse ourselves for the day. And we had plans ;-)
First off we headed to Blackford Pond with a big bag of bread to feed the ducks. It started to rain the moment we stepped outside but we went for it anyway donning raincover and brandishing brolly. Luckily it stopped just as we reached the pond and we trundled down the pebbly slope to the water. Josh hasn't really been up close to ducks before and was rather excited. I was glad I'd brought his reins. We threw our bread for the eager ducks and Josh wandered close to the edge with a piece of bread clasped firmly in his little fist. A couple of bolder ducks came up onto the bank and sat next to us waiting for the next crumbs to fall. When all the bread was gone Josh toddled around (firmly attached to me with the reins thank God!) and we spotted a Mum and baby bunny right next to the bank. They scampered off before I could snap them with my phone camera but it was great to see them anyway. Further along the bank were some swans with their cygnets. Knowing how horribly vicious swans (and especially protective Mama swans) can be, I strapped Josh back in the buggy for a quick escape if necessary. Just as I was getting him in the pram he slipped and fell in a puddle of mud. So that's what all the wipes are for!! We exited slightly dirtier than we had arrived but in one piece and happily igonored by the sleepy swans.
Onwards to Kirstens flat for a 'comfort break' ;-) before heading off to get icecream from Lucas. You see how much fun we were having and we had only just got started!
We trundled past Greggs but the temptation of a fresh tasty steak bake was too much for me and I caved completely. We stopped to munch our pastry products on the nearest bench and had a good chat while Josh tasted a corner of pastry and then stood on the bench watching the world go by. He could not be pursuaded to get back in the buggy so was carried up to Nero. He does that whole rigid body thing which makes it almost impossible to get him strapped into the buggy. I'm hoping it's a stage.....
Anyway off we went to get icecream sundaes from Lucas :-) Josh got his very own blue bowl with vanilla icecream and a blue teddy spoon and wafer. He wasn't too keen on the contents of the dish - screwing his face up when I tried to tempt him with a taste - but liked splattering us and the table with it anyway! Yup more wipes required.
After our desert we walked down to Polwarth to have a nosey round our new flat. We move in next week! Yikes! Note to self Must start packing.....Kirsten was quite taken with the flat especially the kitchen and Josh loved all the space to toddle around in. I'm a little worried about the lack of carpet and the stone floor in the kitchen and bathroom but I'm sure Josh will be ok. He'll just have to get used to the new sound his feet make on the wooden floors and the new found hardness as he bumps down!!
Sounds like a fun day though huh?!
We were exhausted when we got home but happy tired bunnies :-)
