Happy New Year!

2006-01-02

Yesterday was lovely. JB and I had a very lazy morning eating pancakes with maple syrup and crispy bacon followed by a necessary dose of 'Battlestar Galacticrack'. That programme is totally addictive. I could spend hours and hours slumped in a dressing gown on the sofa watching it until my eyes hurt. Which is exactly the reason why there is no way we can ever get a TV. There are just not enough hours in the day.

So having dragged ourselves away from the next installment of the Cylon wars we headed out into the New Year....

Stockbridge was quiet and few places were open but we found a lovely little cosy bar on St Stephen Street called the Watershed. It had a real fire, nice decor and 'Annie' on a big flat screen much to JB's horror and my amusement. We had a drink and a chat and decided to wander into town to see if we could get some food somewhere.

We ended up in Cafe Rouge which was nice. I remember being in there the morning of our wedding - far too early for my bridal hair appointment- sipping a cappucino to pass the time. It didn't feel like my weddding day yet and was slightly surreal with my long veil spilling out of a big shopping bag at my side.

We enjoyed our meal ...mmm Steak Baguette and then decided to finally go and see Narnia. We had intended to go with my folks on my Birthday but we were all far too tired and found the temptation of a cup of tea, a mince pie and a nice sit down outweighing the need to venture out to the flicks.

Narnia was very disappointing. The children were vastly annoying (Susan would have undergone various forms of cruel and unusual punishment throughout the film if I had my way.........), The CG was awful, Aslan looked cross-eyed and frankly I didn't care if they all lived or died. King Kong managed to elicit more of an emotional response than those ridiculous talking creatures. Mr & Mrs Beaver were the only saving grace.

Anyway despite the film, it was a lovely way to start the New Year and what a year it is going to be......

We are moving flat in February followed swifly by the arrival of our small person in May......and that is certainly going to be a life changing event if ever there was one!
